The Role

This job is all about supporting scientists and clinicians globally in the research and clinical development of new and innovative treatments for the world’s most challenging diseases. In this role, you will support the mission of CGT Global by ensuring that you are educating eligible admitted labor and delivery patients and procuring fresh cord blood from the placenta after birth. This job requires a passion and a drive to be a part of the change in healthcare.

The Team:

Our well-trained technicians work side-by-side with the hospital nursing teams to create the most optimal process for cord blood collection. Once a patient is admitted to the labor and delivery unit, the mother is asked if she would like to consent to donate cord blood. Once a mother has consented and delivered, the placenta and umbilical cord are taken to a processing room where the technician draws the cord blood using our specialized collection unit. Once collected, the cord blood is sent to our laboratory for additional processing.

The Perfect Fit:

We’re building a team of well-trained qualified healthcare professionals who will work side-by-side the hospital nursing team, creating the most optimal process for a successful cord blood collection. Ideal candidates are individuals whose ideas align with the impact of the company mission. This individual is expected to become well-versed within the labor and delivery units at our contracted hospitals.

To be successful, the Cord Blood Technician will do the following: 

  • Build and maintain relationships with Hospital staff.
  • Represent the company in a professional manner when educating patients.
  • Collect blood specimens from the umbilical cord following department procedures.
  • Maintain supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing requests for supplies.
  • Understands the hospital's operating room protocols.
  • Document relevant information following HIPAA regulations.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures.
  • Participate in weekend and holidays rotations when necessary.
  • Tracks collected specimens by initialing, dating, and noting times of collection; maintaining daily tallies of collections performed.
  • Exhibits polite and professional communication via phone and email.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work as a team player as well as work independently.
  • Must have proof of the following vaccinations; TB, MMR, Varicella, Hep B and Covid (including booster).

Desirable for the role: 

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience working in a hospital environment preferred.
  • Basic medical terminology
  • Data entry skills

Hours: 

This is an offsite position that will report to our contracted hospital locations. We have an open position for the following schedule:

  • 6am-6pm Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday
  • Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
