CGT Global Products
Human Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells, PBMCs
Human peripheral blood mononuclear cells, PBMCs, are isolated immune cells collected from peripheral blood and commonly used in immunology, cell therapy research, assay development, drug discovery, immune monitoring, and translational research. CGT Global supplies cryopreserved PBMC products and related isolated cell products to support research workflows that require reliable human donor material, flexible sourcing, and project specific support.
PBMCs include key immune cell populations such as T cells, B cells, natural killer cells, monocytes, and dendritic cells. These cells are widely used because they provide a practical view of human immune response, donor variability, disease biology, and therapeutic activity.

What Are PBMCs?
Peripheral blood mononuclear cells are blood cells with a single round nucleus. PBMCs are isolated from whole blood, leukopaks, or other peripheral blood starting material and contain multiple immune cell populations. Because PBMCs include several immune cell types, they are commonly used to evaluate immune response, donor to donor variation, cellular activation, disease mechanisms, and therapeutic effects.
- Lymphocytes: Includes T cells, B cells, and natural killer cells involved in adaptive and innate immune response.
- Monocytes: Cells involved in phagocytosis, antigen presentation, inflammation, and immune regulation.
- Dendritic cell populations: Antigen presenting cells that support immune activation and immune response studies.
Frozen PBMCs, Mobilized PBMCs, and Isolated Cell Options
Researchers often need different PBMC formats depending on the study design. Standard frozen PBMCs are commonly used when the goal is immune monitoring, assay development, or general immune cell research. Mobilized PBMCs may be useful for projects that require cells collected after donor mobilization. Isolated cell subsets may be preferred when a study requires a specific population such as T cells, B cells, NK cells, monocytes, or dendritic cells.
If your project requires specific donor criteria, cell counts, viability expectations, documentation, or custom processing, contact CGT Global before ordering so our team can confirm availability and recommend the best fit.
PBMCs vs Leukopaks
PBMCs and leukopaks are related, but they are not the same. PBMCs are isolated mononuclear cells. Leukopaks are leukapheresis starting material that contains a broader mixture of white blood cells and can be processed into PBMCs or other isolated cell types. If your study requires a ready to use immune cell product, PBMCs may be the better choice. If your workflow requires larger starting material, custom isolation, or downstream processing, a leukopak may be more appropriate.

Donor Criteria and Documentation
PBMC studies often depend on donor characteristics, collection details, processing methods, and documentation. CGT Global can help researchers evaluate available donor material and discuss project specific needs such as donor demographics, collection type, cell count, product format, documentation, and shipping requirements.
For studies with specific donor or testing requirements, request availability before purchase. This helps ensure that the selected PBMC product aligns with your assay, timeline, and downstream research goals.
Note: CGT Global does not currently offer GMP PBMCs. For GMP starting material needs, please view our GMP leukopak products or contact our team to discuss clinical project requirements.
