MSCs - Mesenchymal Stem Cells
MSCs, or mesenchymal stem cells, are multipotent stem cells that can differentiate into various cell types, including:
- Osteoblasts (bone cells)
- Chondrocytes (cartilage cells)
- Adipocytes (fat cells)
MSCs are found in several tissues, including bone marrow, adipose tissue, and umbilical cords. They can:
- Differentiate into multiple cell types: This makes them valuable for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.
- Support tissue repair: MSCs can contribute to tissue regeneration and repair by replacing damaged cells and modulating the immune response.
- Secrete growth factors: They release factors that can promote healing and tissue repair.
MSCs are used in various clinical applications, such as treating bone and cartilage injuries, autoimmune diseases, and other conditions requiring tissue regeneration.
